![]() PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE The 100 Black Men of Albany, Georgia, Inc.’s primary focus is in four major areas of concern for our community: Education, Mentoring, Health & Wellness and Economic Development. Mentoring: This is the
foundation of what our organization brings to the community. Health & Wellness: The Chapter’s involvement with Phoebe Putney over the past seven years has been outstanding. This June’s Healthy Fathers Healthy Families reached more than 700 men; this is an increase of about 175 men over 2007. This program provides men without health care or a primary doctor the opportunity to get themselves checked before a major illness is found. The 100 Partnered with Phoebe Putney Hospital, Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition. The Unnatural Causes Program along with Eating Healthy at Any Age are programs providing medical education. The critical question to be answered is: Is Inequality Making us Sick? This a video training presentation provides information about many aspects of health. The topics discussed in seven segments are: In Sickness and In Wealth, When the Bough Breaks, Becoming American, Bad Sugar, Place Matters, Collateral Damage and Not Just a Paycheck. Education: The 100 Black Men of Albany, Ga. Inc., has also provided
SAT training aids to mentored middle school students in preparation for advance math courses they will encounter as they move
on into High School. The goal for The 100 in this area is to insure our students have the support services they need
to achieve the educational success. The 100 also provide financial assistance to deserving students within the Dougherty County
School System. Economic Development: This 100 Program focuses on financial literacy, family wealth building and entrepreneurship. Our Chapter will offer classes on debt management systems and saving procedures for the family. This program was started as a tool to parents to build financial stability for their children’s education. “This Parents Only” class is a program which reveals the amazingly simple methods to ensure your children have the necessary financial backing when its time to enter college. The mission of The 100 Black Men of Albany, Georgia, Inc. is to provide the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities. The 100 Black Men of Albany seeks to serve as a beacon of Leadership in our community and provide our young people along with their Parents – Good Role Models.
